The band members, and Trevor, convened in the dressing room. "You ok, now, Trev?" asked Zach.

"Yeah, I think so. Y'all go on and do your show; all those people are waiting."

Terry looked at the both of them. "Well, I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'm mad as hell. Your boyfriend just attacked Ghost, and you think everything is ok...just like that?"

"What was that all about," R. J. asked. "We're friends with Steve and Ghost since forever, man. Y'all can't come here and hurt them."

"Wait, there's something else going on, and we need an explanation," Calvin said, as he paced around the room.

"Yeah, and if it's stupid, maybe we don't want you in the band, after all. You and him can just head on down the road," Terry said.

Zach was trying to think what kind of explanation he could give, without saying what really was going on. Trevor just sat at the table, with his head on his arms...he had no defense.

"Guys...guys...you're right," Zach said, "there's a lot going on y'all don't know about. Ghost and Steve know what happened; they're cool with it..."

"But, I saw Trevor...he was attacking Ghost," R. J. said.

"But, it wasn't really him," Zach said, as he tried to make them understand.

Terry slammed the refrigerator door, where he'd been looking for a beer, "That's a load of crap, and you know it," he said.

Calvin looked over at Trevor, still not saying anything. "Hey, over there...don't you have anything to say about why you attacked Ghost?" He threw an empty beer can at Trevor. It missed, but clattered on the floor. Trevor looked up, then.

"I got plenty to say, but...but...I can't yet," Trevor said, then looked over to Zach, "can I...can we?"

Just then, Kinsey came into the dressing room, "Well, what do we have here...a tea party going on? Get your butts out there on stage...now." He meant business.

The guys all gave each other dirty looks, shuffled out to the stage, muttering under their breath. Trevor just stayed where he was.

Kinsey waited a few moments, then said, "This all has something to do with Ghost and his bloody lip, and that séance y'all are planning, doesn't it?"

Trevor nodded, "Yes, and they all hate us now. I don't know if we need to tell them, or what?" He looked to Kinsey for the answer.

"I don't know what to tell y'all, anymore, Trevor. This has gone way beyond a simple parlor trick, and fun and games," Kinsey sighed. "Come here."

Trevor went over to Kinsey, by the door. "Go out there and show support for Zach, hold your head up, and I'll deal with the others. Don't say anything yet; they'll find out soon enough, anyway."

Trevor nodded, "Thanks, Kinsey." He walked slowly back into the club.

Zach and the band were playing again, but there wasn't quite the enthusiasm as before. The kids dancing didn't seem to notice, though. Kinsey had ran out of food, and the beer supply was getting low. He figured another hour, and he'd close it down.

Steve and Ghost had driven home, almost in silence. Steve was trying to stay calm, but his grip on the steering wheel showed his inner turmoil. He was of half a mind to drop Ghost off at the house, then go back and kill Trevor, or if not actually kill him, make him wish he was dead. His jaw was aching from clenching and grinding his teeth. He wished he hadn't almost stopped drinking, too. It would help, he thought, if he was blind drunk, when he killed Trevor. Then he wouldn't remember doing it.

But that was the old Steve. He'd promised Ghost, never again would he be that out of control. He looked over at Ghost, and shook his head. He loved Ghost with all his heart, but sometimes he could be so exasperating, and stubborn, and fearless, and ...oh my, God...so cute. He took a deep breath, and told himself to calm down.

Ghost was worried, too. He was really scared, for what he planned to do, and for what they all were up against. His brain felt like it would explode, with all the thoughts and visions in there. One after another, he was seeing dark entities swirling around. He'd never seen dark spirits before, and he had no idea what to do to get rid of them.

If this was going to be a test of his soul, he prayed he'd be able to prevail over evil...somehow. He was also envisioning the séance, going over what they had planned, the steps to the magic potions, and also what could go wrong. And then, the thing that took over Trevor, and tried to take over him, too...whatever it was, this evil, it was powerful.

He was feeling small and insignificant, and basically unequal to do any good, at all. Back and forth his mind went, and so fast, that he couldn't voice it out loud. He knew Steve was angry, and worried, too. And, if he said anything, it would make it worse. But, he needed Steve's strength to help him through this.

He'd been leaning his head on the car window, staring up at the stars, but he could feel panic starting to take him over. He reached out his hand, taking hold of Steve's, then he slid over and lay his head in Steve's lap, letting the shaking and the tears come.

Steve had already pulled up into their driveway, and now shut off the engine. He stroked Ghost's hair, and held him close, for awhile. "Ghost, it's gonna be ok," he said, after a few minuets. "Let's go in." He opened the car door, helping Ghost out. They leaned on each other, as they went up the porch, and into the house. They then, collapsed onto Ghost's bed, where Spirit joined them, purring and snuggling.

"Steve, I'm so scared," Ghost finally said.

"I know..." Steve said, softly, but he didn't really know.

Ghost was at a loss of how to explain it to Steve. "You don't know, Steve, and I'm scared to tell you. I don't want you to know how bad it is. I don't want to know it either, but, I see it anyway," Ghost cried out.

Steve stoked Ghost's hair. "You have to stop it, don't do it, it's too dangerous, Ghost. I'm not even psychic, and I can tell something is there, in the air, or something...lurking, waiting, gathering power. It's over all of us, already making us do things we'd never do." He sighed. "And, who are we to try and stop evil? We're just regular people, ya know."

"I know, Steve, that's why I'm scared. Everyone's counting on me to fix it, but I don't know how," Ghost started sobbing.

"Oh, babe," Steve cried, as he hugged Ghost tight. "Listen, it's been a long crazy day, and night. We're both crashing, and everything looks worse when we're tired. Maybe after we get some sleep, we'll be able to think better on it, ok?"

Ghost sniffled, "Yeah, maybe, but how do I make my inside head go to sleep?

"I don't know, try to think of good stuff...and we need to get washed off, and out of these clothes. I'm gonna make us some hot milk, to make us sleepy. So, go on...wash that orange shit and blood off your face, and I'll start the milk.

Ghost nodded, getting up to go into the bathroom. Looking in the mirror, he said to his reflection, "I look like crap." He took a quick shower, then put on his sweatpants, and a t-shirt.

"Your turn," he said to Steve, out in the kitchen.

Steve smiled, "You clean up good. Does it hurt?" He lightly touched Ghost's lip.

"Yeah, a little," Ghost said, but gave Steve a kiss, anyway.

"Back in a few," Steve said. "The milk is hot, go on and get you a cup."

Ghost poured himself a cup, then stirred in some molasses. Steve came back after a little bit, and they sat at the kitchen table, trying to settle their thoughts.

Then Ghost said, "Steve, I want you to handcuff me to the bed tonight."
